[For some reason, Phainon praising his abilities like that makes him feel slightly awkward- not in a terrible way, but he doesn't know how to deal with it, really.]
May I linger in the kitchen while you do so? I'd like to watch you work.
[He's excited to try whatever Phainon makes, honestly.]
I will watch from here, then.
[Though if there is a pause in the making of the food that doesn't involve Phainon holding a knife or anything else risky, he will saunter over to stand behind him and wrap his arms around his waist, resting his chin on his shoulder.]
[Chuckling, he remains in Phainon's space until the food is ready. He mostly just stands there, peering over his friend's shoulder, but occasionally he presses a kiss to his neck. He's less used to people being so good-natured about his shenanigans, but it's not a bad thing.]
Oh, are you finished?
[Letting go, he grins as if he hadn't been an inconvenience the entire time.]
[ Each kiss makes his cheek warm, but he's hardly complaining. Hythlodaeus feels nice against him, strange as it is to feel small in someone else's arms, and his neck feels flushed with the way it heats him. ]
I am.
[ Gathering their plates, he motions back to the sofa. ]
[Hythlodaeus sits himself down and soon begins to dig in. He was hungrier than he realised, but he still savours the food as best as he can. Phainon went through the trouble of cooking it, the least he can do is appreciate it properly.]
I see. Kayianas... I haven't heard of it before. How different our homes are, even down to the cuisine.
[He finishes soon after, and proceeds to wait for Phainon to finish too before taking the plates back to the sink. Then he comes back and settles beside his friend, eyes on the windows outside.]
I should think the sun will rise soon. We would not wish to miss it.

[ Phainon cannot imagine what it would be like to peer at a soul, to see someone so intimately. It feels overwhelming. ]
I will have to try to live up to those, won't I?
no subject
[A fact which he's still somewhat pleased about.]
Did we ever decide on what we were having for breakfast, by the by?
[He chuckles- it seems they got thoroughly distracted.]
no subject
[ Leaning in, he kisses his cheek absently. ]
Hot or cold, and I'll go and make it.

[ Grinning, he slips out of Hythlodaeus' grasp, heading back towards the kitchen. ]
Especially if I can keep my eyes on the blush I've been promised.

Whatever I like?
[It's dangerous to say such things to Hythlodaeus, but Phainon clearly doesn't know that yet. He simply leans against a counter for now, though.]

[ He gathers some ingredients, beginning to lay them out - simple, easy fare, but hopefully filling. ]
Are you very hungry?
no subject
[He giggles, but... fine, fine, he won't be an awful gremlin. Probably.]
Quite, aye. What did you have in mind?
no subject
[ Looking at his ingredients, he crosses his arms. ]
Eggs, some honey, yoghurt, some bread... I could make something simple, from home?

Slowly, his head turns, eyebrows raising just a little. ]
Is this your version of observation, Hythlodaeus?
no subject
[He grins, and presses a kiss to the back of Phainon's neck.]
Or am I distracting you?
no subject
[ But, at least, he laughs. ]
I'll manage. I can't let my guest go hungry.
no subject
Oh, are you finished?
[Letting go, he grins as if he hadn't been an inconvenience the entire time.]
My thanks, friend. I do appreciate it.

I am.
[ Gathering their plates, he motions back to the sofa. ]
Sit, we can eat together.
no subject
What is this, by the by? It's wonderful.

[ Light breakfasts were usually the way in Okhema, even for a Chrysos Heir. ]
